Atmos Study Association

Atmos is the study association of the MSc. Energy and Environmental Sciences and other students at the University of Groningen who share an interest in energy, environment, and sustainability. Atmos was founded in April 2019 and our office is located in the Energy Academy on the Zernike Campus. The Energy Academy is a fully sustainable building, and this fits best with our image, as most sustainable association of Groningen 2019/2020. We strive to hold on to this title!

Our mission is to provide students with an interest in energy, environment, and sustainability a platform in which they can develop themselves professionally, learn more about their specific field of interest, and broaden their network. We do so by organizing social, educational, and career-related events. These range from a monthly social drink and the occasional activity such as laser gaming and sports, to soft-skill workshops, company visits, and career days.

We strongly believe sustainability and the energy transition are interdisciplinary problems that we cannot solve alone. We therefore encourage students from other faculties and programs to join us! All students from the University of Groningen that have taken at least one energy, environment, or sustainability-related course are eligible for membership. The interpretation of this requirement can be in the broadest sense. We strive create an interdisciplinary hub of students who can all learn from each other!

As a study association, Atmos is run for students, by students. You can become an active member by joining one of our committees or take place in the board of the association. These are excellent opportunities for you to get to know your fellow students with similar passion and boost your CV.
